By: Juan DeJesus, Guest Writer Los Alamitos High School declared ten high school hopefuls nominees for the upcoming Homecoming Crowning. Every year the school votes for who they think should be nominated & this year the brightest & most deserving were chosen. Cory Cunningham, Josh Barut, Juan DeJesus, Johnson Lay & Jung-Woo Lee are in the running for Mr. Irresistible! The five most “stand out” men on campus have been chosen for the special award, with backgrounds in Athletics, AP studies & performing arts are just some of the backgrounds these men uphold. All have worked towards the title & are all loved by their peers. The Women in line for Homecoming Queen are Haley Bjorklund, Mackenzie Ellis, Kaitlin Flagg, Emily Hartong & Lynnie Sharzer. The women all come from backgrounds of performing arts, cheerleading & athletics. These five gorgeous women have been honored to be in the running for Queen. All ten hopefuls deserve the title of King & Queen but only two will be crowned. Personal photos including, family & baby pictures have been submitted as the nominees take time to put together campaign videos for votes. An assembly will be held a week from today to promote each of the lucky hopefuls. The student body will vote for whom they want to win & the winner will be announced that same night at the football game at Gahr High School. “How do you feel about being nominated?” “I don’t even know, ha. I think its funny but it will be fun!” Cory Cunningham stated. “Haha, it's exciting but now I have to go get a dress and everything and it’s freaking me out!” Kaitlin Flagg told me. “I’m happy. Haha I always wanted to since freshmen year, just because of the escorting part and the questions and the pictures.” Jung-Woo Lee said. “I was really excited and kind of like what just happened when they came in but then I couldn’t concentrate the rest of the period I was so excited...but I really do think its an honor and I’m glad to represent the school with the people I’m going against!” exclaimed Mackenzie Ellis. “I honestly can’t believe im one of the nominees. This is so much fun & such a great experience. I am friends with most of the other nominees so whoever wins deserves it!” Juan DeJesus was happy to say. “It’s really exciting, im just bummed I can’t be on the field, but stoked to be nominated. It’s a great feeling!” Football Captain, Josh Barut said. Next week the nominees will all promote themselves at the ‘Cirque de LA’ homecoming assembly & at the homecoming football game. Friends & parents will escort the nominees as the rest of the school cheers & votes for their favorite. Congratulations to all of the hopefuls & may the best person win!
