Brent Wilcox, 35, Cypress, arrested for shooting a business associate in the head
ABOUT THE AUTHOR

A houseguest visiting a business acquaintance in Cypress was shot in the head Monday evening. Police said it was not an accident and not suicide. Cypress Police arrested Brent Christopher Wilcox, 35, who resided at residence.

Cypress Police Sergeant Tom Bruce told www.OC180NEWS.com as of yesterday afternoon, the victim has not been indentified yet. “We don’t have it confirmed yet because we’re still trying to track down family members and people that can positively identify him.”
The victim was hospitalized on Monday and was undergoing surgery yesterday. There was no further update on his condition.

Bruce explained that the suspect and the victim knew each other and were business associates, but he could not explain the nature of the business. There were published reports that the victim was from outside the United States, but Bruce would not confirm that. Bruce did tell www.OC180NEWS.com that the business was not drugs and assumed to be of a legal nature.

The 6’2”, 320 lbs. suspect was released on bond yesterday at about noon. As of yesterday, there was no word from the Orange County District Attorney’s Office as to whether or not the suspect will be charged.

Sergeant Bruce reported in a statement that “at approximately 7:50 pm, {Cypress Police Department} officers responded to a residence in the 6800 block of Tiki Dr. in Cypress regarding a shooting incident. Officers arrived to find a white male adult in his late 50’s suffering from a single gunshot wound to the head. The victim was transported to an area trauma center and was listed in critical condition.

Cypress detectives are investigating the incident and have arrested Mr. Brent Wilcox on the charge of assault with a deadly weapon. The handgun was recovered from the crime scene. No one else was injured in the incident. The motive for the shooting is still unclear. The victim, who has yet to be positively identified, was visiting the suspect who resides at the Tiki address. Detectives are interviewing several witnesses and are asking for anyone with information pertaining to the shooting to call the Cypress Detective Bureau at (714) 229-6631.”
