Rossmoor Woman, 27, Arrested In Burglary And Identity Theft Ring

Two recent arrests might lead to a reduction in the recent burglary wave sweeping Rossmoor. One of those arrested is a resident of the unincorporated community, and the other was apprehended in Rossmoor.

The investigation in these cases is ongoing so many details are still to be resolved. But, OC180NEWS has learned that Melissa Hanaki, 27, Rossmoor, was arrested for possession of a stolen car and other stolen property, drug paraphernalia, and burglary tools.

Hanaki was arrested in Corona on October 14, 2011 while she was in a car which had been stolen from Rossmoor. When police officers approached the car, she drove off, discarding various items, such as a crack pipe, as she drove.

It is not known if Hanaki stole the car, but she was driving it. The car was stolen the previous day from Rossmoor. When Hanaki was arrested, the car included stolen property, burglary tools, material related to an identity theft ring, methamphetamines, and similar contraband.

OCSD Deputies linked Hanaki to Rossmoor through another arrest the previous day. Brandon Lebo, 34, was arrested in Rossmoor on October 13, 2011 after a car stop. Lebo was in possession of burglary tools, stolen property, and drug paraphernalia. He was also in violation of parole. OCSD investigators believe Lebo and Hanaki are boyfriend and girlfriend.

Lebo is in custody at the Orange County Central jail. He is awaiting a court appearance on November 18, 2011, and his bail is $65,000.

Orange County Sheriff’s Deputies believe in addition to burglaries and car theft in Rossmoor, the pair is responsible for multiple burglaries in several Southern California counties.
