Of the 3 robberies, 2 suspects remain at large. Just one day after the Los Alamitos Bank of America was robbed at gun point, another local bank robber was nabbed. The FBI arrested Brian Keith Robinson, 49, of Los Angeles, in connection with the January 10 robbery of the Seal Beach Washington Mutual bank. On Tuesday, February 17, the Bank of America in Los Alamitos was held up by a man armed with a black semi-automatic handgun.
The B of A robber escaped on a racing style motorcycle, heading East through the residential areas. A multi-agency chase ensued, including the pursuit by an Orange County Sheriff helicopter, but the robber got away.
The suspect was described as 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 9 inches and 170-200 pounds. There is no other identifying information available because the robber entered the bank wearing a motorcycle helmet, with a full visor and gloves. The robber was so completely covered, that the police could not even determine his race. According to Los Alamitos police Detective Sgt. Sharon Kerbow, the suspect, wearing the helmet and visor, “went behind the counter and hit the first teller, who said she didn’t have any keys and then he went to the next one, as everybody continues their banking.” The bank’s customers apparently did not notice that the robbery was in progress, despite the rather unusual presence behind the counter of a helmeted and gloved person who was also brandishing a semiautomatic pistol. Kerbow said “It was unbelievable to me, but
it happened.”
Anyone with information regarding the robbery was asked to contact Kerbow at (562) 431-2255, ext. 405 or the 24-hour police dispatch line at (562) 594-7232.
There appears to be no new information on the Wachovia Bank robbery which took place on January 26 of this year. In that Seal Beach case, the suspect escaped on a bicycle. He was described as Male Caucasian, 35 years of age, 5’-6” tall, 175 lbs. This robber was wearing a black beanie, instead of a motorcycle helmet, but he escaped anyway.
